Obituary Cannelton, Indiana Frances M. Piatt, 81, passed away April 22, 2020 at University Hospital of Louisville. She was born in Galien, Michigan on May 10, 1938 to the late Thomas R. and Mary Etta (Rose) Payne. Also preceding her in death was her sister, Mary Hanover and a brother, Lon Payne. Frances was united in marriage in 1974 to James Piatt, who survives. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. A devoted member of her church, Frances taught as a primary/seminary teacher for the children of the church. Frances had worked at Marvin’s Market and retired from Wal-Mart where she had worked in fabrics. She enjoyed her church and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, James “Jim” Piatt, Hawesville, KY; children, Mary Elizabeth Piatt, Hawesville, KY and George Piatt, Tell City; a brother, Thomas Payne, Michigan and sisters, Rosemary Keller, Three Oaks, MI and Audrey Payne, Galien, MI. Due to mandates concerning Covid-19, services will be private with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
