Ford’s Obituary Due to health concerns and restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic, a private graveside service and interment for Ford A. Neubauer will be held in the Orleans Cemetery at Orleans, Nebraska with Pastor Dave Irwin officiating. Ford Alvin Neubauer, 72 years of age, of Alma, Nebraska, (formerly of Orleans and Huntley, Nebraska) passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Society – Colonial Villa in Alma. Ford was born October 13, 1947, at Orleans, the fourth of six children to Max Arthur and Evelyn Minnie (Mintzmyer) Neubauer. He received his education from Orleans Public School, graduating from Orleans High School with the class of 1965. Ford then pursued higher education at the Denver Automotive and Diesel College in Denver, Colorado, graduating with a degree in Automotive Mechanics. Ford was inducted into the United States Army on January 12, 1967, and served his country during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge on December 18, 1968. He then continued to serve in the United States Army Reserves until January 11, 1973. Following his service, Ford pursued his chosen career as an auto mechanic. He was employed by the Huntley Garage for twenty-one years, and then worked for Huntley Service for six years prior to this retirement. Along with his talent of auto mechanics, Ford also had a passion for vehicle restoration. A highlight of his hobby work was restoring his twin brother, Fred’s 1956 Chevy Convertible. This was an extra special project, and treasured this car due to the fact that Fred passed away in 1969, while serving during the Vietnam War. Throughout the years, Ford also enjoyed the company of a special friend, Judy Sims for the past 20 years. Ford was also a member of the Presbyterian Church in Orleans. Besides his parents; and his twin brother, Fred; Ford was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Linda Neubauer; nephew, Aaron Ford; and nieces: Laurel Neubauer and Denise Neubauer. He leaves to celebrate his life; his three brothers: Carl Neubauer and his wife, Dee of Bellevue, Nebraska; Larry Neubauer and his wife, Madolene of Bedford, Texas; and Dennis Neubauer of Alma; his sister, Pat McShea of Minden, Nebraska; special friend, Judy Sims of Alma; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. There will be no visitation, per Ford’s final wishes the casket will be closed. A memorial has been established in Ford’s honor, and kindly suggested to the Presbyterian Church in Orleans, or to the Harold Morin American Legion Post #184 of Orleans.
