Ethel’s Obituary Ethel Faye Simpkins, age 80, of Van Buren Township, MI, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 9, 2020 at her daughter’s home. She was born September 13, 1939 in Vincennes, Indiana, the third child of seven to Lloyd Andrew & Lola Oval (Stevens) Devine. She retired from the Oakwood Hospital System where she worked as a Nurse Aid and as a Radiology Assistant. She will be remembered for her kindness, her beautiful smile, her laughter and her great advice. Her family was truly her greatest love. She enjoyed camping and crafting. Her projects ranged from crochet to the complicated art of stained glass. She also enjoyed Facebook and texting. Mrs. Simpkins is survived by daughter Linda (Jim) Bailey of Willis, MI, two sons: Paul (Leona) Simpkins of Willis, MI and Jerry (Cheri) Simpkins of Calumet, MI; two grandchildren: Brandon Craiger and Shyla (Chris) Henderson; also five great-grandchildren: Julian Henderson, Calvin Craiger, Everly Henderson, Carley Craiger, and Caden Henderson. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, five of her siblings and her beloved husband Paul W. Simpkins on July 25, 2010. Dignified cremation rites have been accorded. Arrangements by David C. Brown Funeral Home, Belleville, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to support research specific to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). A specific organization/institution has not been chosen yet. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a very small chapel service was held on Saturday, April 11, 2020 for immediate family.
