Ensie’s Obituary Our Angel received her wings Wednesday, April 1, 2020 surrounded by her loving family at her home. Ensie was called home to rest, joining her precious Savior in eternity. Born on March 12, 1929 to Ida Blue and Isreal Lewis, Ensie was the youngest of two children. She and her sister, Ennie were raised by their grandmother, Ada Wright. In 1946, Ensie graduated from Napier High School in Ada, Oklahoma. She graduated St. Joseph College too. Ensie was preceded in death by her first husband Theodus King. She later married Theodore (Ted) Carrethers on October 11, 1956. Ted and Ensie celebrated the home going of their baby boy Bruce Wayne, and 37 years of marriage before Ted’s home going. The Carrethers, known by many as open hearted; were so loving and kind. Countless times, these two opened their doors to family and friends. With an unlimited amount of support and guidance, they were role models to a multitude. Mrs. Carrethers was a loving mother and grandmother. The family’s matriarch spent years touching so many lives while caring for others. She was a nurse in Wichita, Kansas and Dallas, Texas. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, cooking, shopping, and caring for her puppies. Her love for others led to hosting Thanksgiving dinner for more than 60 years. Mrs. Carrethers was a longtime member of Forest Avenue Baptist Church in South Dallas, Texas, where she served as an Usher. She provided service to our Lord, shared to us in a scripture, 1 Peter 4:10, “ As each has a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace”. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Robinson, Theodora Carnegie (Henry Carnegie), and Tamara Carrethers; extended children, Carolyn Cox, Diana Willis (Don Willis), Ensie Drumgo (Willie Drumgo), Lincoln Watts, and Larry Watts ( Diane Watts), Steve Carrethers, Craig Davis and Jeff Carrethers; grandchildren, Tameshia Carrethers, Ensie Jones, Jaycilva Watson, and LaToria Reddick; extended grandchildren, Erane Willis, Edward Cox, Cindy Schmoker (Scott), James Michell, Christina Cooper, Nikita Watts, Larry Watts (Nicole Watts), Mark Watts and Victor Watts; great-grandchildren, Tymeshia Norris, Lenza Norris, Tyler Norris, Jaylah Watson, Toyce Simmons; extended great-grandchildren, Christian Cooper, Emma Cooper, Jillian Schmoker and her sister-in-law, Doris Frazier ( Edgar Frazier); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
