Edith Bennett November 01, 1940 – April 03, 2020 Share this obituary View/Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Edith Walden Bennett, of Crawfordsville, passed away Friday afternoon at Franciscan Health East in Lafayette. She was 79. Edith was a long time member of Fremont St. Baptist Church. She was a cosmetologist and later worked at Coast to Coast. Her favorite hobby was to go shopping. Born Nov. 1, 1940 in Empire, Alabama, she was the daughter of Alfred Dockins and Georgia A. Roberts Dockins. She attended school at Covington. She married James “Jim” Walden in 1959 and he passed away in 1989. She later married Jack W. Bennett and he passed away in 2009. Surviving family includes: brother, Gary Dockins (Katy) of Crawfordsville; sister, Betty Smith of Darlington; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene “Sonny” Dockins and four sisters, Nela Pridmore, Evelyn Jones, Mary Hunt and Linda Dockins. No public services will be held at this time. A private burial will be held at Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg. Arrangements were entrusted to Burkhart Funeral Home. The family requests donations in her memory to be directed to the Fremont St. Baptist Church, 1908 Fremont Street, Crawfordsville, IN 47933. Print Obituary
