Earlene Young Parks October 15, 1939 – April 16, 2020 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Earlene Parks was born on October 15, 1939, to the union of Preston & Maggie Young in Concord, North Carolina. Earlene was formally educated in the Cabarrus County School System. During her work tenure, Earlene was employed at Cannon Mills, Shrogen Hosiery, and The Brian Center. Professing her faith in Jesus Christ, Ear-lene joined Gilmore Chapel AME Zion Church where she served faithfully as a Missionary, a member of the Senior Choir, a board member of the Lay Council, and an active member of the Hospitality Committee. In 1957, Earlene married Rufus Parks. They were married for 28 years until his death in 1985. Together, they raised six children. In additional to her husband, Earlene was proceeded in death by her son, Norman Young, Sr of Concord, North Carolina. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, Earlene was loved by many. Earlene lived her life based on the principles of Matthew 25:35 “For I was hungry and you gave me food…” Her Christian life was as plentiful as those that surrounded her, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of those who knew her. She loved to spend time cook-ing, sitting on the porch, worshipping at church, playing BINGO, fishing, & golfing. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her three daugh-ters: Govonia Hunt (Michael) of Hickory, North Carolina, Trinda Cald-well (Jeffrey) of Concord, North Carolina, and Deb Davidson (Harvey) of Salisbury, North Carolina; two sons: Rufus Parks of Concord, North Car-olina and Andrea Hames (Shonda) of Salisbury, North Carolina; two sis-ters: Maxine Smith (Percy) of Kannapolis, North Carolina; one brother: Richard Young of the home; her “other son”: Norman Young, Jr. of Okla-homa City, Oklahoma; a special friend: Albert “Pee Wee” Jones of Con-cord, North Carolina; and a host of other family members and friends.
