Douglas Conrad Watson November 16, 1942 – April 08, 2020 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Mr. Douglas Conrad Watson, age 77, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at his home in Repton, AL. Mr. Watson was a native of Bermuda, AL and a lifelong resident of Monroe County. He was a 1960 graduate of Repton High School where he was a Beta Club Member and a 1962 graduate of State Vocational Technical School which is now Bishop State Community College where he earned an Associate Degree in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. He also took continuing education with Auburn University and Carrier Corp. Short Course. He worked at Owen’s Hardware & Electric Company for 11 years as a Service Technician and was President and Principal Owner of Conrad Watson Air Conditioning, Inc. for 42 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Monroeville, a building committee member, choir member, a member of the pastorial, parish relations committee and past President of the Methodist Men’s Club. He was a past director of the Kiwanis Club and voted Kiwanian of the Year in 2004, a past president of Monroeville Little League, a past president of South Monroe Little League, past president of Repton Quarterback Club, past trustee of Repton High School, and past director of Monroeville Area Chamber of Commerce for 2 terms. He was involved with the Monroe County Heritage Museum as an amateur actor in “To Kill a Mockingbird” for 20 years, the current director and past president of Plumbing, Heating, Cooling Contractors of Alabama, the Alabama Roofing, Sheet Metal, Heating, Cooling Contractors Association, and past director, past president current 2nd-4 year term as trustee of self insurance fund. He was the recipient of The Chisonhall Award 1994 for outstanding service, and a member of the Business Council of Alabama. Mr. Watson and his wife, along with three other couples, volunteered to help take over park operations under a partnership agreement between Friends of Isaac Creek Campground and the Alabama River Lakes Project, U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District. Their hard work, support, and cooperative attitude allowed Isaac Creek Campground to remain open during some difficult times. He was an affiliated member of the Alabama Board of Heating and Air Conditioning, the Contractors-Task Force Committee, certified as a State of Alabama Master Plumber, the State licensed Board for General Contractors and a Carrier Dealer-Equipment Sales Corporation for 42 years. Preceded in death by his parents, James Franklin Watson and Mildred Louise Miller Watson; and a brother, Jimmy Faye Watson. Survivors include: his wife, Diane Campbell Watson of Bermuda, AL; his son, Destry Wayne Watson and wife, Janet of Chelsea, AL; his daughter, Donna Watson Rowell of Mobile, AL; a brother, Daryl Watson and wife, Barbara of Bermuda AL; a sister, Grace Laraine Lloyd and husband, Robert of Bermuda, AL; a sister-in-law, Dottie Watson of Montgomery, AL; 4 grandchildren, Courtney B. Rickseker and husband, Bryan, Jeb Wallis Watson, Benjamin Grant Watson and Sadie Elizabeth Watson; and his great-grandson, Chandler Douglas Rickseker. The family will be having a private graveside service and a celebration of life service will be held for Mr. Watson at a later date.
