Donna Jo (Best) Slater, 62 of Lansing, passed away in Lansing after a brief illness. Born to Edward and Barbara Best in April of 1958, Donna graduated from Harry Hill High School in 1976 and went on to get her Associate Degree at Lansing Community College. Donna retired from the State of Michigan where she served as an administrative assistant. She was a “take charge” person and would organize various events ensuring that all the tasks were executed perfectly. Also a very creative person, she had previously worked for Michaels stores creating wreaths and floral arrangements for display and purchase. After her retirement she spent many hours creating beautiful figurines that decorated her home. The biggest love of her life was her son, Ryan, whom she was proud of and participated in his many school events serving as his biggest football fan. Donna was an animal lover and took excellent care of various pets throughout the years including her two Westie’s Kirby and Ethan. Donna leaves behind her son, Ryan; brother, John Best of Colorado; sisters, Tammy (James) Bruce of Texas and Beth Best of Tecumseh; as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents.
