Donald’s Obituary Donald L. Hoek, 82, of Sioux Falls, SD died Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. His funeral service will be live-streamed at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 23 from George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory, Sioux Falls. Donald Loren Hoek, son of Adrian and Minnie (Veenbaas) Hoek, was born October 22, 1937 on a farm near Montrose, SD. Don was united in marriage with Arlene Hoek on June 20, 1958 at Center Lutheran Church near Salem, SD. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Arlene; four children, JoLynn Hovaldt and her husband, Sheldon, Canton, SD, LaDonna Ricketts and her husband, Steve, Sioux Falls, SD, Michael Hoek, Sioux Falls, SD, John Hoek and his wife, Brenda, Sioux Falls, SD; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Veltkamp and her husband, Ben, Canton, SD, Stacy Crall and her husband, Steve, Harrisburg, SD, Jeremy Spain and his wife, Lauren, Colorado Springs, CO, Jeffrey Spain, Sioux Falls, SD, Nicole Rath and her husband, Steve, Britton, SD, Tash Hoek and her fiancé, Mike Saul, Sioux Falls, SD, Ashley Ricketts, Sioux Falls, SD; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward Hoek, De Smet, SD; and many other relatives and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gene Hoek and Leonard Hoek.
