David’s Obituary David James Chiapuzio Sr, passed away peacefully at home on April 20, 2020, after courageously battling cancer. He spent his last hours with his wife, Chris, and their children, Travis, Taylor and Trevor. Dave was born on April 17, 1959, to Betty (Niemczyk) Nowacki. He graduated from AD Johnston High School in Bessemer, MI, in 1977. He married Chris (Lee) on January 29, 1996. Dave worked for the Worth Company for over 30 years. He was known for his hard work, as well as his practical jokes. He thought of his co-workers as extended family. Dave was preceded in death by his beloved mother Betty, his father Domenic Chiapuzio, and his sister Sherry Garza. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by his brothers Dale and Wayne Chiapuzio, his sisters Tammy and Mary Chiapuzio, and his brother by another mother, Joe Garza. He is also survived by his children, David Chiapuzio Jr (Lila) and Stephanie Gruber (Tanner), and their children. He had a large extended family, all of whom he loved dearly, as well as many, many friends. Dave was a die-hard Michigan Wolverines fan. He also enjoyed watching the Packers with his Frank and Ernie’s family, especially in the Brett Favre era. He liked to spend time up north, plan how he would divide up his Lottery winnings, collect Dad shoes, fish with his kids, and binge watch Hallmark Christmas movies. He especially loved family trips with his family and in-laws, Harry and Barb Lee, and Amy, Jon, Jack and Ellie Dickinson. His favorite vacation was the 2019 cruise to the Caribbean. Everyone who knew him will say that Dave was just an all-around good guy. He’d lend a hand if you needed help, and he’d buy you a beer just because you were there. He was quick with a joke, and loved to prank people. In better days, he was always up for a challenge or an adventure. He genuinely liked everyone he met, and had a special way of making people just a little happier to have known him. The family would like to thank Ashleigh, Michelle and Sara, and the entire Ascension Cancer Center team, for their compassion and dedication to bringing laughter and hope to his treatment. A private funeral service because of the COVID-19 virus was held on Monday April 27, 2020 at the Pisarski Funeral Home.
