Darlene Wells Sparks September 27, 1940 – April 28, 2020 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Memorial Donation Darlene Wells Sparks, 79, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at her home. Born September 27, 1940, in Madison County, she was the daughter of Boyd and Bertha Asbill Wells, both of whom preceded her in death. Darlene was a homemaker and formerly had worked with the Jackson County Extension Office and the former Lexington Police Department as a finger print technician. She was a member of Durbin Memorial Baptist Church, in Fayette County. Darlene was an extremely caring and patient person and was very dedicated to any position she held, whether, her job, her church or her committees. Survivors include her husband of 42 years, James Wylie Sparks of Richmond; three sons, Bobby Jones (Liz), Kevin Jones (Debbie), and Kenny Jones (Whitney), all of Richmond; step-son, James Michael “Mike” Sparks (Annette) of Vanceburg, KY; grandchildren, Ryan Jones (Kristen), Nicole Bell (Matt), Tilly Dishman (Tim), Lyndsay Cole (Andrew), Tanner Jones, Morgan Jones, and Larken Jones; step-grandchildren, Audrey Sowards and Amber Kasper; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Bell, Connlay Bell, Boone Bell, Nash Jones, and Tinley Dishman; step-great-grandchildren, Colton Johnson, Kayleigh Johnson. She also leaves brothers, Dean Wells, Darrell Wells (Wanda); sisters, Diana Ross and Darnetta Congleton (Tommy); sisters-in-law, Betty Wells, Martha Wells, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Daniel Wells (Toots), Dwight Wells, Donald Wells, and Douglas Wells; sisters, Doris Patton (John), Dorothy Bucher (Wayne), Opal Wells, Hazel Wells, and several nieces and nephews. Due to current restrictions, the visitation and memorial service for Darlene will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Durbin Memorial Baptist Church, 8650 Durbin Lane, Lexington, KY 40515 or Rosedale Baptist Church, 411 Westover Avenue, Richmond, KY 40475.
