Daniel M. Szczur, 72, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at the Soldiers Home in Holyoke. Born January 28, 1948, son of the late Adolph A. and Jane T. (Kolek) Szczur, he was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Daniel was a graduate of Chicopee High School and Holyoke Community College. While stationed at Ft. Lee, VA he volunteered as a rifleman on the burial squad and was very proud of that duty. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam Era and served thirteen months in Korea. He worked as a steel worker at Harmann Steel and Deardon Ironworks. Daniel was a longtime member of the Chicopee Tigers Club and one of the original members of PV Ridge Runners 4-Wheel Drive Club. He was a longtime racing fan and an avid golfer. Daniel is survived by his loving brother, James M. Szczur and wife Kathleen of Monson; and several nieces and nephews. His sister, Mary Jane Dutremble of Biddeford, ME predeceased him. Daniel was known to be with his special canine friend, Buddy, for years. Special thanks to the Holyoke Soldiers Home, especially 3North, Maryellen and Gladys. Funeral services were held privately.
