Clyde’s Obituary Clyde Albert Durbin, 91 years old of Independence, Louisiana, passed away April 27, 2020. He was born May 4, 1928 in Independence, Louisiana, son of the late Loren Preston Durbin and the late Alice Bankston Durbin. As a young man, Clyde served in the U.S. Navy during late WWII and was a member of the American Legion. Years later, he married and had two children. Clyde was a lineman with Louisiana Power and Light for 31 years. He was known for his love of animals, particularly horses, and the outdoors. Clyde was a dedicated Christian who served Christ daily. He touched many lives and will be dearly missed by all. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ruth Zachary Durbin; daughter, Deborah Addie Durbin Toney and husband, Terry Wayne Toney; son, Gary Clyde Durbin, Sr. and wife, Terri Sue Durbin; four grandchildren, Kristin Toney Notariano and husband, Kelly Notariano, Erin Toney Spring and husband, A.J. Spring, Brigid Heather Durbin, and Gary Clyde Durbin, Jr.; six great-grandchildren, Leigha Petho, Kinsington Notariano, Addisyn Spring, Kamdyn Notariano, Keaton Notariano, and Ethan Durbin. Preceded in death by his parents and baby sister; brother, Amos Ponder Durbin; and great-granddaughter, Isabella Durbin. Services will be held privately.
