MacDonald 78 of Blackstone, MA passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 2, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Nancy MacDonald of Blackstone, MA. Born in Norwood, MA on February 15, 1942, he was the son of the late Bessie (Thayer) MacDonald and Charles H. MacDonald. Charles grew up in Walpole and was a graduate of Walpole High School, class of 1960. He served in the Army in 1963 and further served in the Army National Guard for 6 years. He worked as a truck driver for The Kendall Company in Walpole, MA for many years. He also worked at Medfield State Hospital and Westboro State Hospital until his retirement in 2008. He loved camping, music, and was an avid guitar player. One of his biggest enjoyments in life was playing his guitar for others to enjoy. He is survived by his daughter Mary E. MacDonald and son Charles H. MacDonald, both of Woonsocket, RI; his 2 Step-daughters, Jill A. McLaughlin of Douglas, MA, and Mandy L. Bradeen of Bellingham, MA; 6 grandchildren, Michelle M. MacDonald and Melissa H. Menoche, both of Woonsocket, RI, Dylan J. Menard and Cody A. McLaughlin, both of Douglas, MA; Samantha M. Fisher of Bellingham, MA; and Timothy M. Fisher of Georgia; one Great Grandson, Jonathan J. Cecconi of Woonsocket R.I. He is also survived by one niece, Valentine MacEachern of Plainville, MA; and 3 nephews, Frank Dietzel of Dedham, MA, Mark Peckham of Plainville, MA; and Ralph Peckham of Martha’s Vineyard. He was predeceased in death by his first wife Bernadette (McDade) MacDonald who died in 1985; his brother Ralph Peckham and sisters Phyllis MacDonald and Frances (“Pearl”) Dietzel. Arrangements are private due to the COVID 19 Virus. The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date. Donations can be made in Charlie’s memory to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 20 Prospect Street, Milford, MA 01757. Arrangements under the direction of Cartier’s Funeral Home, 151 So.
