Obituary Cecil W. Bell, age 88, of Ames, IA, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2020 at Israel Family Hospice House. Burial will be at a later date in the Luckow Cemetery, rural Auburn, IA. Cecil Wade Bell was born on January 4, 1932 in Early, IA to Erma (Robison) Bell. He was named after his father, Cecil W. Bell, who had passed away before his birth. Cecil’s mother remarried and he was raised by Thomas and Erma (Robison) Brauer in northeast Iowa. He graduated from Lake View High School in 1950. Following graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, however before being deployed, he was medically discharged. On July 2, 1953, Cecil was united in marriage with his high school sweetheart, Marils Frank. During his working years, Cecil worked in construction. The couple moved many times, living in AZ, NE, MO, CO, and IA. The couple moved to Huxley, IA in 2007. During retirement, Cecil remained active. He continued woodworking, built a house, read western books, playing Sudoku (many hours a day), and gardening a variety of plants. Cecil is survived by his children, Mitzi (Zan) Steinberg of Denver, CO; Kelly (Bill Anderson) Collett of Fort Collins, CO; Alan (Dyan) Bell of Huxley, IA; and Tom (Charity) Bell of Ogden, IA; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marlis, in 2014; his parents, Cecil Bell, Erma and Thomas Brauer; and his sister, Beverly (Marion) Brower.
