Captain Jerry E. Sanderson of Irving, Texas June 12, 1930 – April 29, 2020 Captain Jerome E. “Jerry” Sanderson, 89, a resident of Irving since 1956 and a retired American Airlines pilot, died Wednesday, April 29, 2020, at a local care center. Born June 12, 1930 in Memphis, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Herman C. Sanderson and Hattie Cook Sanderson. He married Betty Jean Kenney August 20, 1949. They moved to Irving in 1956. He was a pilot for American Airlines for 35 years and was Roman Catholic. Survivors include his wife of over seventy years, Betty Sanderson of Irving; a daughter Linda Wray and husband Reggie of Irving; a son Alan Sanderson of Fort Worth; and a sister Myrna Snyder of North Carolina. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the family will have a private family service. His body will be entombed at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving under the direction of Donnelly’s Colonial Funeral Home, 606 West Airport Freeway.
