Bob’s Obituary Bob R. Weese, age 77, of Grenville, New Mexico, passed away after a year long battle with cancer on April 9, 2020 in Clayton NM. In consideration of the national pandemic emergency, and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of family and friends, a private burial in the Grenville Cemetery will take place in the coming days. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico. Bob Weese was Born May 10, 1942 in Raton NM to Virgil E Weese and Fern (Jones) Weese. He was raised in Grenville NM attending school in Grenville and Clayton before graduating in 1960. He was baptized in 1951 at the United Methodist Church in Grenville. He married the love of his life, Fawn (Thomas) on April 1, 1961. (Whom he first asked to marry her in the 5th grade). Together they raised three children. Bob worked on the railroad, for the county, and in construction before settling down on the family ranch. He enjoyed his life as a rancher. He was a Union County commissioner, a voting machine tech for many years, and was board member as well as superintendent at the Union County Fair. He served on the First National Bank board for 10 years. He served on the Southwestern Electric Co-op board for 30 years. He was a member and chief of the Grenville Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years. Bob found great joy and satisfaction taking care of his cattle, running his dozer as well as he was a great handyman (jack of all trades-master of none, so he often said). Being a cowboy was his life. He enjoyed country music and dancing. He was known by many for his orneriness, telling jokes and stories (many he could remember years later), and he was a mentor to his family teaching them many things (whether they wanted to learn or not). He didn’t enjoy traveling and preferred to stay close to home as he often said he has all that he needs or wants to see right here. He is preceded in death by both his parents, his brother – Kenneth, his step-mom Wanda; nephews – Virgil Paye, David and Russell Bullard; brother-in-laws, Charles Swanson and Bill Bullard. He is survived by his wife, his sons – Bobby Weese of Lakewood, CO; Billy (Sue) Weese of Melrose, NM; his daughter – Wanette (Mark) Davis of Grenville, NM. His grandchildren Rachel (Trinity) (John) Anderson of Denver, CO; Samantha (Josh) Tidenberg of Texico, NM; Joshua Weese of Midland, TX; Jeremy (Emily) Weese of Grenville, NM; Aleigh (Jon) Ingram of Melrose, NM; Dylan Matters-Weese of Boise, ID; and Tristan Davis of Grenville, NM. His great-grandchildren Madisynn and Mason Tidenberg of Texico, NM; McCrae and Jackson Weese of Grenville, NM; and Bridgette Ingram of Melrose, NM. His sisters – Kay Paye of Big Sandy, TX; Sue (Dale) Wiggins of Clayton, NM; Deanie Swanson of Clayton, NM; Wendy (Newt) Russell of Wheatland, WY; and Kim (Craig) Graves of Wheatland WY. Numerous nieces, nephews and their families. That family suggests that memorials be made in Bob’s memory to the Grenville Cemetery. Read More
