Bob’s Obituary Bob Boyd, 68 years, of New Alsace, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, April 12, 2020. Early on this Easter morning, Bob was surrounded by those that loved him. Bob loved his family first and foremost. He always put his family before himself and would drop everything he was doing to help them at a moment’s notice. He loved to make them laugh as much as he loved to aggravate them. Bob and Doris met her freshman year at North Dearborn High School when a teacher assigned her a seat right in front of Bob. He never took his eyes off her. In 1971, Bob married his high school sweetheart and this past January, he and Doris celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary. Their two sons, Bobby and Boomer, could tell many stories about their adventures with Dad. Bobby was enjoying the time he spent with Bob rebuilding a ’78 CJ-7 Jeep and Boomer was working with Bob on several equipment jobs together. Bob worked for 20+ years as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of the Local 181 Operating Engineers. He also stayed connected to his high school buddies and loved bowling with them on Wednesday afternoons. Bob’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in his heart and his face would light up when they were around. He also loved his dogs, Zeus and Max. Zeus was Bob’s sidekick and would go anywhere Bob went and was truly a family member. Bob will be greatly missed by his wife Doris and their sons Robert “Bobby” (Roxanne) Boyd of New Alsace and Anthony “Boomer” (Paula) of Sunman; his 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; his beloved dog Zeus; brother Larry Ray (Sherry) of Brookville, sister Nancy Lee (Robert) Dills of Port Charlotte, FL, and sister-in-law Renee Boyd of Moss Point, Mississippi. He is preceded in death by his parents Bruce W. & Thelma Lucille Boyd, infant son Bruce Edwin Boyd, brother John W. Boyd and infant sister Mary Lucille Boyd. A memorial service in Bob’s honor will be held at a later date so that everyone can attend.
