Obituary of Bessie B. Garner Bessie Garner, 92, of Homer NY, passed away April 4, 2020 at Guthrie Cortland Regional Medical Center. She was born February 16, 1928 in Georgetown NY, the daughter of the late Claude and Olive Knapp Garner. Bessie was a lifelong resident of the area. She graduated from Homer Academy with a regents degree in vocational home making. She spent her working career with Smith Corona where she retired. In her spare time Bessie enjoyed reading and baking. She especially enjoyed baking cakes for any occasion for her daughter, nieces and nephews, and most recently her great nieces and nephews. She is survived by her daughter Lucinda “Cindy” Garner of Homer, her sister with whom she resided with most recently Charlotte Turk of Homer, her brothers Claude (Mary) Garner of Groton, John (Ann) Garner of Dryden, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings June Garner, Bob Garner, and Ruth Rofe, her nephews Larry Garner and Danny Turk. Private services will be held at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Cortland for immediate family only.
