Obituary Arthur “Art” Jay Payne, age 83 of Muskegon, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at his home. He was born on April 22, 1936 in Muskegon, MI to the late Floyd and Anna (Buckner) Payne. Art married his first wife and mother of his children, Rosemary Bedwell of Beedeville, AR in 1957 and she preceded him in death on February 27, 2005. He then married Donna Ogle Slater of Muskegon, MI on May 25, 2011. Art graduated from Grand Haven High School, Class of 1955. He served his country in the Army National Guard from 1956 to 1959. Art worked for Veurink’s as a tractor driver, and retired from Shape Corporation. He attended Sunrise Church in Grand Haven, and enjoyed hosting and attending local auctions. Art was an avid camper who was a member of the Grand Haven Coast Guard Camping Group and liked to travel and spend time with his grandchildren. Art is lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Donna; daughters, Myra (Richard)Nyland and Julie (Jake) Crowell; sons, Steve Payne, Donald (Patty) Johnson, and Cory Slater; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Donna Dawe; sisters, Rose (Bill) Currier, Bev Yff, Nancy Benes, and Margie Lyons; brothers, Donald(Vie)Payne ,Paul (Dee) Payne and Larry (Jan) Payne; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Rosemary; daughter, Vicki Warner in 2016; son, Randall Payne in 2017; grandson, Christopher Nyland; and brothers, Bob and James Payne. The Memorial Service for Art will be held at Klaassen Family Funeral Home and announced at a later date. Interment will be at Mona View Cemetery.
