Obituary .Anita Joan Chrisawn, 73, of the Micaville community, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 30, 2020, after a battle with cancer. A native of Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late Ramon and Annie Shuford Autrey. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers: Roger and Terrill Autrey; and one very special grandson: Aaron Martin Briggs. As a child Anita enjoyed driving her father’s pickup, as well as singing and fellowship with her brothers and sisters. Anita drove a school bus and was a substitute teacher in Yancey County for 30 years. Surviving are her loving husband of 55 years: Charles Ray Chrisawn; a daughter: Anita Briggs Buchanan and husband, Steve; 2 sons: Tommy Ray Chrisawn and wife, Tammie, and Micheal Charles Chrisawn; 3 sisters: Shelia Wolfe of Asheville and Madelyn Gibbs and Carolyn Hughes both of Burnsville; 5 grandchildren: Alicia Briggs, Amber Nunes, Caitlyn Chrisawn, Darin Chrisawn and Harley Bennett; 2 great grandchildren: Matthew and Braxton Nunes. A graveside service will be held at 2PM Thursday in the Autrey Cemetery. Rev. Roger Hilemon will officiate. The family would like to say a special thanks to Compassionate Care WNC in Burnsville.
