Zelma’s Obituary Zelma Lorene Coada Rhyne went home to be with Her Lord on March 16, 2020 in Woodstock, GA. She was born May 21, 1923 and was the oldest child of Floyd and Estella Coada of Happy Valley, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude K Rhyne Sr.; son, Michael Rhyne; brothers, Arnold Coada, Fern Coada, Milburn Coada, and Phillip Coada; sisters, Marie Shofner and Joyce Reona Coada; granddaughter, Natalie Rhyne; great-grandson, Dalton Michael Rhyne. She is survived by her sister, Myrtle Wilson of Highland, IN; her children, Claude K. Jr. of Bedford, TX, Ronald of Crown Point, IN, Donald (Barbara) of Visalia, CA, Faye (Millard Lichter of Evergreen Park, IL, Richard (Pat) of New Johnsonville, TN, Eric (Debbie) of Hammond, IN, and Rebecca (Darryl) Marlow of Chesterton, IN; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was loved and respected by her family and all those with whom she had contact. She always saw someone that she could help and she used her life to make the world a better place. During World War II, having worked at the atomic plant in Oak Ridge, TN, she was one of “The Girls of Atomic City.” For her efforts there she received a certificate of appreciation issued by the US War Department recognizing her “…contributing to the successful conclusion of World War II.” Funeral service will be held at 3:30 PM Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Happy Valley Missionary Baptist Church, with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
