Richard “Rick” Henry, 66, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at his home. Rick was born May 10, 1953, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Gilbert L. “Gib” and Florence K. Rice Henry. Rick was a 1971 graduate of Columbus North High School. Rick had a long career in the heating and air conditioning business and was the owner of Henry Mechanical. Rick truly enjoyed and loved his work. Rick was able to fix anything, and he enjoyed the challenge to do so. He cherished and looked forward to the times he spent with his grandsons. Rick was a member of the American Motorcycle Association and he enjoyed fishing, boating and riding motorcycles. Rick is survived by his son, Matthew (Nina) Henry of Hope; grandsons, Mark and Luke Henry of Hope; sister, Kathy (Larry) Rudd of Taylorsville; sister-in-law, Cheryl Henry of Columbus; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and close friends. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert “Gib” and Florence Henry; half-brother, Jerry Henry; and half-sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Skip Wilkerson. In keeping with Rick’s wishes, cremation is planned. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2020 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; the Rev. Jerry K. Day Sr. will officiate. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 3 p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
