Pauline M. Koehm, loving mother, wife, aunt, great aunt and friend, age 92, passed away at1:30 pm Sunday, March 29, 2020 in her home with her family by her side. She was born on July 15, 1927 in Bluffs, Illinois the daughter of Paul E. Vortman and Frederica (Kaehlert) Vortman. She married Robert Koehm on February 21, 1957 in Jacksonville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on September 22, 2015. Pauline spent her life caring for others. She was strong and independent; never afraid to speak her mind. She never met anyone she couldn’t engage in conversation. A tiny body full of spunk to the end. At news of her passing, described as a gentle spirit. Pauline followed in her mother’s footsteps of making angel food cakes for family and friends. She added her own tradition of baking cookies to give on holidays. She enjoyed talking to her family and friends on the telephone. They talked about past memories and current events. They usually found something to laugh about. Pauline loved to laugh, even during these last trying months, with a sly grin; she would say something to make us laugh. It also brought Pauline great joy to spoil the family pets with treats. “Mom, you will be walking again hand in hand with dad as he takes you to see all of the family and friends waiting to see you. We were so lucky to have you. We are grateful that you were able to be at home with us these last few months. She is survived by two daughters, Sherri Koehm of St. Louis and Terri Koehm of Godfrey; four nephews, Greg Koehm of Arizona; Larry Vortman of Winchester, Illinois, Lloyd (Scarlett) Vortman of Winchester, Illinois and Bruce (Penny) Vortman of Winchester, Illinois; She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers, Richard (Eileen) Vortman and Russell (Virginia) Vortman A private graveside service will Thursday, April 2, 2020 at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Wrights, Illinois.
