Paul Michael Hugick of Richfield Springs October 31, 1929 – February 29, 2020 RICHFIELD SPRINGS-Paul Michael Hugick age 90 passed away unexpectedly on Saturday February 29, 2020 in his home. He was born on October 31, 1929 at home in Richfield Springs, son of the late Adam and Mary Paperski Hugick. A lifelong town of Columbia resident, he was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School. On October 11, 1952, he was united in marriage to Veronica Tibor in Saint Francis deSales RC Church, Herkimer. They made their home and raised their family on their dairy farm. Mr. Hugick had a strong faith in God and was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker RC Church, Richfield Springs. Paul’s entire life revolved around family and farming. He owned and operated the Four Roads Dairy Farm in the town of Columbia. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, Agriculture Soil Conservation, Cooperative Extension, 4-H with his children, and for many years worked at the Farm Show in Mohawk. He and his wife first retired in 1997. He then developed a new career with his wife, through their love of tilling the soil, by growing vegetables to sell at four local community farmers’ markets through 2019 at age 90. To all who knew him, he will always be remembered as a kind, caring and hardworking man. Any conversation with him was straight and to the point, yet you always felt his warmth and friendship whenever you were with him. He will be truly missed by his family and friends. Surviving him are his loving wife of sixty-seven years Veronica, three daughters and their husbands, Sharon and Joseph DiPasqua of WY, Diane and Frank McGrath of Cherry Valley, Valerie and Steven Stafstorm of Baltimore, Maryland; a sister, Mary Lawson of Ontario, Canada, five grandchildren, Lindsay and Christian VanderVoort McGrath and Laura, John and Thomas Mlecz, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Stanley, Casmir and Adam Hugick, and a sister, Jenny Fountaine. Calling hours for Mr. Hugick will be on Friday from 4:00 until 6:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10:00 am in Saint Joseph the Worker RC Church, Richfield Springs. Father Silvaster Sarihaddula, Pastor officiating. Interment in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery will be later this spring at a time to be announced.
