Obituary Otto Hazelwood, age 82 of Falls of Rough, KY died Friday, March 13, 2020 at Hardinsburg Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born in Leitchfield, KY on May 5, 1937, the son of the late Mitchell and Mary Whitaker Hazelwood. Otto was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and a veteran of the United States Army. He was a farmer and seasonal employee of Rough River State Resort Park. Papaw O, as he was affectionately known, was the best sitter and playmate for his grandchildren. He was up for anything they wanted to do – play games, color, watch TV and even an occasional nail polish session. He loved them and they adored him. Otto couldn’t wait for the grass to grow so that he could be on his mower enjoying the day. He spent time working in his garage and enjoyed eating out. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Peggy, brothers Bethel and Eugene Hazelwood, sisters Katherine McClellan and Virginia Hazelwood. Otto is survivied by his son: Tommy Hazelwood (Fay) of McDaniels, KY daughter: Tammy Fuqua (Jeff) of Fordsville, KY 8 grandchildren: Patrick Hazelwood (Becka), Amy Taylor (Adam), Autumn Paul (Jesse), McKenzie Richards, James Brown (Astara), Scott Brown (Roxanne), Dustin Brown (Jamie) and Heather Ferry (Matt) 17 great grandchildren: Chloe, Emily, Olivia, Nora and Teresa Taylor, Jackson, Jace, Addison and Jay Paul, Damion, Serenity, Daxxin, Pailsey, Preston, Kaydin and Kayson Brown, Valerie Williams 2 sisters: Helen Embry of Hardinsburg, KY and Dorothy Embry of Louisville, KY Many nieces and nephews Funeral services will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Axtel, KY on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at 11 AM with Fr. Tony Stevenson officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Monday, 4-8 PM and Tuesday 8 – 10:30 AM.
