NAN ELLEN PASSANT November 27, 1940 – February 20, 2020 Share this obituary Send Flowers Upload Photo| Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Nan Ellen Passant (nee Rose) age 79, of Rocky River Ohio, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2020. Nan Ellen was born on November 27th, 1940 to the late John and Gerrie Rose in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from St. Augustine Academy in 1958 and majored in theater at Marygrove College, graduating in 1962. After college, she lived in Los Angeles, then returned to her hometown of Cleveland where she met her husband Jim and taught at Magnificat High School. Nan Ellen and Jim were married for 29 years and raised their family in Rocky River while she continued her passion for theater, performing in plays, commercials and teaching children’s theater at The Beck Center. Nan Ellen was involved in the community and served on the Rocky River City Council. She gave generously of her time and volunteered at many organizations including, The Providence House, The League of Women Voters, The Cleveland Sight Center, and St. Vincent de Paul Christ Child day care center where she was the loved weekly “story lady”. Nan Ellen was known for her strong faith, and was an integral part of the St. Christopher’s church community throughout her life. Her courage, strength and ability to live life fully has been an inspiration to many. Nan Ellen’s most cherished time was spent with her family, especially her five grandchildren. Nan Ellen was the beloved wife of the late Jim (James) Passant (1/9/1935 – 11/17/1994). She was the loving mother of Jamie (James) Passant on Rocky River, Ohio, Amy Weir (Steve) of Wilmette, Illinois and Jason Passaniti (Jen) of Chicago, Illinois; grandmother of Grace (13), Ellie (12) and Maggie (7) Weir, and Jameson (5) and Leo (3) Passaniti; sister of John, Joey (Jo Ellen) and Martha Rose; loved by all who knew her. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. at St Christopher’s Church, 20141 Detroit Rd., Rocky River, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Friday, April 3rd from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Berry-McGreevey Funeral Home, 26691 Detroit Road, Westlake, Ohio.
