Melvin E. Crook February 20, 1930 – March 20, 2020 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Melvin E. Crook, age 90, of Portage, passed away Friday, March 20, 2020. He was born in Naylor, Missouri on February 20, 1930 to the late Bert and Lueiza (nee Richmond) Crook. He retired from Local 20 Sheet Metal Workers. Melvin enjoyed woodworking, gardening, photography, and fishing. Melvin is survived by his sons, David (Dorothy) Crook, Dan (Norma Jean) Crook; daughters, Patty (Dwane) Yates, Donna (Jeffery) Trathen; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Ozella Hansen; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol (nee York) Crook; siblings, Elvis Crook, Nelson Crook, Alma Hepp, Norma Robinson; and his parents. The family of Melvin Crook would like to express their gratitude for the devoted care that VNA Hospice has shown their loved one. Memorial contributions may be made, in Melvin’s honor, to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908. A private graveside service for immediate family will take place at McCool Cemetery in Portage. A memorial will take place at a later date.
