Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born Monday, April 4, 1949 to the late Charles and Leona (Turk) Schooley in Indianapolis. On June 11, 1971, she married her husband, Mark Peden. Mary Lou was a 1967 graduate of St. Agnes Academy in Indianapolis and attended IUPUI. After college, she worked for the State Attorney General’s Office, Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles, and the Indiana Department of Commerce. She and her husband then moved to Martinsville in 1973 and she worked for the Morgan County Mental Health Clinic and Action Title Company. From 1990-1995, Mary Lou worked as the Administrative Assistant for the High School Principal in Martinsville. Starting in 1995, she was Martinsville City Clerk Treasurer until her retirement in 2013. During the 1980’s, Mary Lou was a Republican Party Precinct Chairwoman in Morgan County. She was also a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and past member of Red Hats Society. Mary Lou loved her family, friends, and community and she will be missed dearly. She is survived by her husband, Judge Mark Peden of Martinsville; son, Scott Peden and wife Sarah of Indianapolis; brothers, Charles Schooley of Clayton, Jerry Schooley of Seelyville, Richard Schooley of Tipton; sister, Judith Sitzman of Greenwood; grandchildren, Cole and Cade, of whom she was especially fond. Services for the family are private. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.
