Larry D. Abel, 80, of Columbus, passed from this life at 7:00 a.m. Sunday, March 1, 2020 at the Four Seasons Health Care Center. Mr. Abel was born March 27, 1939, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Roy Kenneth and Verba V. Beatty Abel. Larry was a former co-owner of Charlie Brown’s Lounge. He was a member of Moose Lodge #398, Fraternal Order of Eagles #741 and Elks Lodge #521. A sports enthusiast, Mr. Abel enjoyed all sports and playing golf. A Moose memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street. Family and friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Following the service cremation will take place. Memorial contributions may be made to Mooseheart. Survivors include his daughter, Terri (Jeff) Brackett of Virginia Beach, VA; his companion, Nancy J. Samper of Columbus; and his grandchildren, Ali, Matt, Jordan and Lauren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Katherine Knulf.
