Obituary Joseph Lee Norton, 61, of North Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at Columbus Regional Hospital. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Steve Owenby and Rev. Jason Duncan will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. prior to the start of the service on Saturday. Born September 26, 1958, in Columbus, Joe was the son of Robert Jackson Norton Sr. and Mona (Clark) Norton. Joe was known as “Big Joe” to those who loved him. He retired from driving a truck for a living. Joe enjoyed cooking, coloring, riding motorcycles, and watching old westerns. He loved his dog. In addition to his mom, Mona Norton of North Vernon, survivors include sisters, Patty Crawford of Columbus, Rebecca Owenby of Tracy City, TN, and Melodi Norton of North Vernon; brother, Robert Norton Jr. of Columbus; and best friend, Lonnie Smith of Butlerville. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Norton Sr. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the family.
