Obituary Joanne Mae (Malone) Haskins was born on February 10, 1947, to Walter and Darlene (Cox) Malone near Pisgah, Iowa. She attended Woodbine and then the Dunlap schools, graduating from Dunlap in 1966. After high school, Joanne worked as a film developer at Calandra’s Camera Shop in Omaha, Nebraska. On September 27, 1968, Joanne married Rich Haskins in Audubon, Iowa, just 4 days before Rich left for Vietnam. The couple lived in Gray, Iowa, before moving to Woodbine. For the next 12 years, Joanne was busy raising their four children and then in 1980 started babysitting others also. In 1998, she started working at Apothica and then Natural Creations. After 15 years with them, she retired in January of 2013. Joanne enjoyed many simple things. She spent time gardening, planting flowers and admiring birds. She loved knitting, doing cross stitch and ceramics. Joanne also loved spending time with Rich, which involved watching old westerns, football and golf. Together they spent time fishing, bowling and woodworking. More than anything, Joanne cherished her husband, children and grandchildren. Joanne died on March 7, 2020, at CHI Health in Missouri Valley, Iowa, at the age of 73 years and 26 days. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Judy Lantz and Diane Rief. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Rich Haskins of Woodbine; four children, Teresa Foster of Denver, Colorado, Terry Haskins of Woodbine, Tammy and her husband Brian Smith of Moville, Iowa, and Sheila Androy and friend Pete Seuntjens of Dunlap; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother, Robert Malone and wife Vicki of Dunlap; two brothers-in-law, Donald Lantz and his wife Mary and John Rief all of Woodbine; and many other relatives and friends.
