Wertz February 02, 1971 – March 01, 2020 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Gregory William ‘Greg’ Wertz Gregory William Wertz, 49, of Parsons passed away early Sunday morning, March 1, 2020. Born in Wichita on Feb. 2, 1971, Greg moved to Southeast Kansas as an infant. He attended Altamont Grade School and graduated from Labette County High School in 1993. He loved fishing, camping, music and carpentry work and rebuilding things in general. Gregory married Melissa Perry in 1998. They divorced in 2003. He married Billie Jo Wertz in 2004. They later separated, and she survives with his children. Survivors include his children, Kaylene (Jerry) Phillips, Justice Wertz, Liliana Wertz, Annamaria Wertz, Alexander Wertz, Kadence and Kairie Wertz; a stepdaughter, Chase Nash; a grandson, Andrew Phillips; two brothers, Bill (Kathy) Schoenhoff and Neal Schoenhoff; a sister, Cathy (Doug) Triplett; his mother-in-law, Terri (Randall) Swearengin; three sisters-in-law, Terena (Tim) Barkley, Amanda (John) Baumgartel and Jessie Myers; two brothers-in-law, Nick (Katie) Swearengin and Matthew Myers; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his biological parents, Nadine Schoenhoff and Gene Humphrey; his adopted parents, Vernon and Joann Wertz; a sister, Debbie Fisher; and a nephew, Cody Comstock. Gregory wished to be cremated and his ashes passed over his favorite camping spot. There will be a memorial at a later date.
