Freddie Ray Smith, 60, of Deputy, Indiana, formally of Indianapolis, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg, Indiana Born July 26, 1959 in London, KY, he was the son of the late Gilbert Jr. and Helen Jean (Taylor) Smith. He was the custodian for Scott County Public Libraries, Fred also was the custodian for many years at Beech Grove City Schools. Fred loved to fish and spend time on the Lord Family Farm. He was also the greatest “Paw” to his animal family who will miss him greatly. Survivors include his children, Nickie Roosevelt, Rockville, Indiana and Jeremy Ray Smith, Indianapolis, Indiana and 3 grandchildren, Billy Bettis, Ethan Roosevelt, and Lily Roosevelt. Sister: Anita Gail (Kenny) Jones, London, Kentucky Brothers: Charles Smith, London, Kentucky, Gilbert Gene (Michelle) Smith, Rockville, Indiana, Darren Devern (Sherry) Smith, London, Kentucky. Life Partner, Connie Lord of Austin, Indiana and her sisters, Beverly & Mike Bagwell and Kathy & Darrell Morris and many nieces, nephews, many friends in Scott County, and campfest friends who he loved dearly.
