Frances King Mann of Newnan died peacefully at her home on March 20, 2020 two hours before her 96th birthday. She was born March 21, 1924 in Newnan, GA to the late Willie Herring King and John Robert King. She graduated from Newnan High School in 1941 and was a graduate of Agnes Scott College. She then returned to Newnan to begin her teaching career in the Newnan Public School System. She taught 2nd and 3rd grades for 35 years at Atkinson Elementary School. A lifelong and faithful member of Central Baptist Church, she taught and led Sunday School in the Junior Department for many years and was involved with the Women’s Missionary Union. She served as a volunteer at Newnan Hospital, and was a sustaining member of the Newnan Junior Service League. Mrs. Mann was preceded in death by her husband Bob Baker Mann, her sister May King Keith, and her granddaughter Staci Couch Lanier Morrison. Surviving family members include her children Billie Mann Gatewood and her son-in-law Jim Gatewood of Americus, Dr. Bob B. Mann, Jr. and daughter-in-law Linda Mann of Newnan. Surviving grandchildren are Virginia Crisp Gatewood of Atlanta, James Crisp Gatewood, Jr. (Katie) of Albany, Frances Gatewood Raybon (Robbie) of Columbus, Spencer Parkland Couch of Jackson, MS, Bob Baker Mann, III of Jackson, WY, and Shrader Mann Burns (Hunter) of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Great grandchildren surviving are Campbell B. Lanier, V, John Parkland Lanier, Philip Gaines (Pete) Lanier, Robert Hawkins Raybon, Benjamin Gatewood Raybon, Miller Virginia Raybon, Fleming Elizabeth Gatewood, James Crisp Gatewood, III, and Hunter James Burns, Jr. The family would like to express appreciation to her special caregivers Doris Abney, Yasmina Favors, Tiffany Garrett, Barbara Griffin, Viola Howard, Missy Kidd, Ione Lowe, Andrea Moreland, Jackie Tennie and Lucille Walton.
