Obituary Fernanda Araujo Sotomaior Goncalves, 58, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Palisades Hospital in North Bergen, NJ. She was born in Sao Jorge, Arcos de Valdevez, Portugal and came to the United States in 1987 and resided in the Ironbound Section of Newark before moving to Kearny in 1995. Fernanda was a parishioner and choir member of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Newark. Beloved wife of Alvaro Sa Sotomaior Goncalves; loving daughter of Maria Pereira De Sousa Araujo and the late Manuel Da Silva Araujo; devoted and loving mother of Alvaro Daniel Goncalves and his wife Michelle Ribeiro Goncalves; dear sister of Joaquim (Fernanda) Araujo, Jose (Maria) Araujo, Rosa (Jorge) Alves, Fernando (Ana) Araujo, Maria (Gaspar) Sotomaior, Gloria (Joaquim) Cerqueira and Helena (Manuel) Soares; cherished grandmother of Lucas Daniel and Lina Marie Goncalves; dear niece of Maria Da Silva Araujo; also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Due to the restrictions recently placed on occupancy in public spaces by the State of New Jersey in the ongoing efforts to limits the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), Fernanda’s funeral arrangements are private.
