Evelyn’s Obituary Evelyn Christine (Powell) Carter, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Friday March 20, 2020. She was born June 17, 1928, the youngest daughter of Ollie and Ruby (Parker) Powell of Asheville, NC. Chris was a dedicated as well as a loving wife and mother who loved her family and friends. Throughout her life, Chris loved cooking, camping, entertaining guests, and watching game shows and Christian programming with her lifetime sweetheart. At age 13, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and served Him her entire life. She was a faithful prayer warrior. On August 27, 1952, she married the love of her life Calvin Thomas (Tom) Carter of Bedford, VA. They were together for 65 wonderful years. Chris and Tom settled in Waynesboro when Tom was transferred from Roanoke, VA by the Kroger Company. Preceded in death by her brother, Reverend John Raymond Powell; husband, Calvin Thomas (Tom) Carter; son, Larry Ronald Carter; and great grandson, Cameron Allen Carter. She is survived by her son, David Thomas Carter (wife Yelena) and their children Nathan and Jonathan; daughter, Sharon Lee Carter and her daughter Chelsea Christine Carter (husband Cody A. Carter) and their children Ava Jane and Alana Grace. A graveside service will be held at Augusta Memorial Park on Tuesday March 24, 2020 at 12:00 PM officiated by, Pastor Todd Brown. Read More
