Elaine Fay (Peterson) Johnson, 82, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Wolverton, MN, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2020, in Bethany on 42nd, Fargo, ND. Elaine was born on September 9, 1937, to Albert and Irene (Hendrickson) Peterson in Fargo, ND. Elaine grew up in Christine, ND, where she graduated from High School. She was united in marriage to Leslie Johnson on March 11, 1956, in Wolverton, MN. Together, they started their family in the Wolverton/Christine area where Elaine worked full time as a stay at home mom. Elaine later began her career with St. John’s Hospital in Fargo as a nurse aid. After her retirement, she began her work as an in-home infant daycare provider for almost 20 years. She moved to Riverpointe Assisted Living in Moorhead, MN. For her last two years, she lived in Bethany on 42nd. Elaine enjoyed baking and cooking for her family, even in a pinch. She was very fond of babies and children and enjoyed a good crossword puzzle which she had to finish. She loved dancing and music, especially country and old rock n’ roll. She prided herself in her fashionable attire and coordinated jewelry. Elaine was a kind and gentle soul and will be sorely missed by those she loved. Elaine is survived by her children, Candace Johnson, Mark (Kristi) Johnson, Laurie Brakke, and Nancy (Kevin) Olthoff; former husband, Leslie Johnson; son-in-law, Mike Brakke; grandchildren, Kelly (Barry) Sullivan, Katie (Tom Wicklund) Olthoff, Megan (Michael) Cassidy, Matthew (Melanie) Johnson, Stacey (Andrew) Rohan, Abbey (Landan Davis) Brakke, Brady Johnson, David Brakke, Dakota, Savana, and Rion Rhodes; 8 great-grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Irene; and children, Thomas and David Johnson. Visitation will be from 4:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., followed by the memorial service at 7:00 P.M., Thursday, March 19, 2020, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. Final resting place will be at Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery, Wolverton, MN, at a later date.
