Obituary David Vick Purvis, age 68, passed away peacefully in hospice care on Saturday, March 21, 2020. David was born in Rocky Mount, NC on December 3, 1951 to John Earl and Sadie Griggs Purvis. David grew up in Tarboro, NC and graduated from Tarboro High School in 1970. He joined the United States Air Force in 1971 where he served as a Sargent. After his service he attended Nash Community College where he studied Drafting. He spent the majority of his career as a Draftsman before attending Lenoir Community College and becoming a teacher for Onslow County Schools. He married Brenda Ann Thornes on August 26, 1972 (now divorced) and had three daughters. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, grilling, bird watching, shooting, pizza burgers and exploring the back roads of North Carolina with his best friend Mike O’Briant. David was a devoted father, friend and a faithful companion to his cat Leo. He had a very friendly and generous spirit and was always willing to lend a hand to those he loved. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his three daughters, Andrea and husband James (Adams), Lindsay and Beki; his siblings, Johnny, Bruce, William, Paul and Penny; and his mother Sadie.
