David Michael Deckard Jr., 37, of Bloomington tragically passed away on March 28, 2020 at the IU Health Bloomington Hospital after an accident on his ATV. Dave was born December 16, 1982 in Bloomington to David Michael Deckard Sr. and Evelyn Sue Moore. He was a 2002 graduate of Bloomington South High School. He was the owner and operator of Bloomington Seal Coating & Paving Inc. which he worked since 1998. Dave was an extraordinary, passionate, devoted man. He was a lover of people and never met a stranger. He had a smile that could light up your world and a heart as deep as the clear blue sea. He had a drive to succeed and a passion for life, building his business from the ground up. Dave’s work ethic was insurmountable and unmatched. He especially loved spending time with his “ol lady” the love of his life Frances, his beloved and beautiful children for whom he lived his life for and his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, arrowhead hunting, buying/selling, he was a “hustler” in every sense of the word and the most outstanding entrepreneur. He most recently begin his new passion of farming for which he had big dreams for. Dave is survived by his life partner, Frances V. Mateo of Bloomington; his loving children, David Michael Deckard III and Vanessa Suri Deckard; his mother, Evelyn (Joe) Scanlan of Bloomington; his father, David Michael (Kimberly) Deckard Sr. of Bloomington; one sister, Christina M. Deckard of South Beloit, IL; nephews Tobi, Izzy, Lu; a chosen brother Jeffrey Deckard; step sister Amanda (Mickey) Hayes and step brother Jason Truelock; his in-laws, Oscar & Josefa Mateo of Ellettsville and several aunt, uncles, cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents and two uncles. Dave will be immensely missed by all who loved and knew him, but his legacy shall never be forgotten. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date when we can all gather safely once again. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
