Constance “Connie” H. Schafer, 82, of Columbus, passed from this life at 7:45 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2020 at Four Seasons Health Care Center. Connie was born December 12, 1937, in Columbus, the daughter of Bert and Roseda Pence Pruitt. She married John “Jack” C. Schafer January 26, 1957, he preceded her in death July 16, 2013. Mrs. Schafer was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church and Daughters of The American Revolution. She was a 1955 graduate of Columbus High School and attended Purdue University. She was volunteer with the American Red Cross and Columbus Regional Hospital. An avid reader, Mrs. Schafer also enjoyed Swedish Weaving and family holidays. Survivors include her sons, Chuck Schafer of Ohio and Tom (Sandy) Schafer of North Kingstown, Rhode Island; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and her sister, Elenora (Harold) Hoeferkamp of Gulf Shores, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Dan Schafer; daughter, Nancy Moore; brother, Pence Pruitt and a sister, Roseda Smith. In keeping with the families wishes, cremation is planned. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at a later date at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. Inurnment will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice of charity. Arrangements were made by Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home.
