Eichholz, age 94, of Brick, NJ formerly of East Rutherford, NJ passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2020. Beloved and devoted husband of 73 years to Frances (Contini) Eichholz. Loving father to four children, Elaine Bicher, Linda Tomesko, Lorraine Pszonka, and the late Charles W. Eichholz (2011). Dearest grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. At the age of 17, Charles enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1943 and graduated from quartermaster school. He was honorably discharged from the Coast in 1946 after serving for 3 years in the Pacific including the Battles of Emirau and Saipan, Guadalcanal, Leyte, Guam, and Iwo Jima. Charles is the last surviving member of his ship. Following his military service, Charles was married to the love of his life, Frances, at St. Anthony’s in Paterson, NJ, on October 20, 1946. Shortly after, they moved to East Rutherford, NJ and began a family with the birth of their first of four children, Elaine, followed by Linda, Lorraine, and Charles. Charles was a devoted family man and supported the family by starting his own business, Prospect Petroleum Company. Before retirement in 1986, as President of Prospect Petroleum Charles transitioned the business ownership to his son, Charles. Bubbie, a nickname given to him by his mother, was an avid boater, fisherman, and earned his Captain’s License in the mid 1970’s. He passed his love for the sea specifically the New Jersey Shore onto his children and grandchildren. In retirement, Charles also developed an affinity for travel all over the United States.
