Catherine’s Obituary Old Orchard Beach – Catherine ‘Kay’ A. Bayley, 99, passed away at her home on March 9, 2020. She was born on June 16, 1920 in North Woodstock, NH to Harry and Lena Mullen. Her family moved to Rumford, ME when she was ten years old. She attended schools there and graduated from Stephens High School in 1938. Kay attended the Maine General Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1942. She remained there as an instructor and as the supervisor of the Medical Nursing Unit for several years until she was hired by the State of Maine Department of Education as an instructor for the School of Practical Nursing at SMVTI (now SMCC). She retired in 1981. During her professional career and while raising her family she lived for many years in the Stanwood Park neighborhood of South Portland. Kay was a member of the First United Methodist Church in South Portland, a lifetime member of several organizations including the Cumberland Pythian Sisters of Westbrook, Order of the Eastern Star of South Portland, and the Pineland Court Order of the Amaranth. Kay was predeceased by two husbands, Woodrow A. Robinson and Paul F. Bayley and by both her sons, Harold ‘Kenny’ K. Riddle and Austin ‘Robbie’ W. Robinson. She was also predeceased by her sister Elizabeth M. Whitney and a brother Chester L. Mullen. She is survived by a grandson, nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Brooklawn Memorial Park on June 16, 2020 at 11:00 am. Arrangements entrusted to Hobbs Funeral Home, South Portland.
