Obituary Carol Dee Welch Compton, age 81, of Glenn Oaks Drive, passed away Friday, March 6, 2020 at her residence. She was born November 1, 1938 in Sadorus Illinois to the late Delmar and Blanche Moore Welch. Carol was a longtime member of Lawndale Baptist church. She and Orville were avid bowlers and loved traveling. Carol also enjoyed water skiing, motorcycling, and gardening. She also was a wonderful seamstress. Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Orville Lee Compton; siblings, Vida Lou Welch, William Welch, Jim Welch, and Marilyn Roney. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Janice Compton and Suzanne Cruz of Houston, TX, Penny Karlinsky and husband, Nicholas of Greenfield, WI, and David Compton and wife, Penelope of Lake Worth, FL; grandchildren, Steven Shull and wife Sissy, Jonathan Shull, Katie Taylor and husband, Dustin, and Sara Kernes and husband, Chavis; great grandchildren, Steven Shull Jr., Carrie Shull, Dyana Shull, Suzanna Taylor, J.J. Summerall, Logan Summerall, and Daniel Kernes; brother, Wayne Welch; sisters, Sara Headly, and Pam Conner; canine companion, Ruby. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Lawndale Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Jim Kilby officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm prior to the service at the church.
