Patricia’s Obituary Patricia Lynn Hannum, (83) of North Royalton, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at her home on January 21st, 2020. Born January 11th, 1937 to Lyman Fay and Catherine Alberta Hannum, Pat grew up on the family farm in Kent, Ohio. She leaves behind her brother, Larry Hannum of Kent, sister-in-law, Marianne Hannum of Kent, her niece, Kara Hannum Lewis (Damon) of Hudson, great nieces and nephews, Mackenzie, Reed, Cooper and Laine Lewis, dear friend and sister of Marianne, Judi Horn of Willard, Ohio, great nephew, Travis Horn of Laurel, Montana as well as other extended family and many, many dear friends. Pat will certainly be missed by all who knew her. Pat attended the former Kent State University High School followed by Hiram College and then graduated from Kent State University with a degree in education. She later earned her Masters Degree in Education from Kent State as well. She started her teaching career in Hudson and then taught as a Reading Specialist for over 30 years in Parma City Schools. Pat loved to be busy and was always on the go! She was involved in a variety of organizations including the Alpha Nu chapter of educational sorority, Alpha Delta Kappa, The Herb Guild and her Homeowner’s Association. Pat was able to make friends wherever she went. She enjoyed traveling, riding her bike, gardening, cooking, playing Bridge and her new favorite game, Mahjong. The ultimate joy in her life was family. Her sister-in-law, Marianne, truly became a sister to her and her niece, Kara, was like her daughter. From the day of Kara’s birth, Patti (as her family called her) was integrated into all aspects of her life. Kara’s children were definitely like her grandchildren. Given her roots as a reading specialist, Patti enjoyed bringing new books to the kids and was always ready to help with homework. Patti was the key organizer for family holiday events; planning the menu and picking out new games for everyone to enjoy! Patti attended plenty of kids’ sporting events and was always there to take pictures. She enjoyed many beach vacations with the family to Naples, Florida and spent summer weekends at the family lake house at Holiday Lakes in Willard, Ohio. Patti was a fabulous cook- making creative, new appetizers for our lake weekends and encouraging Sunday dinners at the Lewis house in the winter. Patti loved family time at the lake and was always ready for happy hour with an adult beverage on “Patti’s porch.” We will miss our Aunt Patti fiercely, but memories of fabulous family times will remain in our hearts forever. We will think of her often, especially when we kick off holiday events with “let the wild rumpus begin!”, gather for family dinners, water the flowers in the summer, make her delicious recipes, play Rumikub, take a sunset pontoon ride or raise our glass during happy hour! A celebration of Patti’s life will be held on Saturday, January 25th at Blessing-Hine Funeral Home, 8592 Darrow Road, Twinsburg, Ohio 44087. Visitation and a brief program will be held at 11:00. All are welcome to join family at the graveside immediately following the service and are encouraged to join us for a celebration and the sharing of stories at the Lewis home, 7579 Berks Way, Hudson, Ohio 44236. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be sent to Alpha Delta Kappa Foundation- please put Ohio ADK Scholarship Fund in the memo line. Checks can be mailed to: Mary Ey, 6018 Langton Circle, Westerville, Ohio 43082. Read More
