Rev. Deb Molbert will officiate and follow a time of lunch and fellowship, burial will be at the Hettinger Cemetery in Hettinger, ND. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. followed by a gathering of family and friends at 6:00 p.m. all at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Reeder. Marvis Ilene Hofland, 89 of Bismarck, ND, formerly of Hettinger, ND, passed away on January 16, 2020, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck, ND. Marvis was born February 25, 1930 to Herman and Lila Kenitzer at Reeder, North Dakota. She attended and graduated from Bucyrus High School. Marvis met Richard Hofland at a dance in Reeder and were married on October 22, 1950, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Reeder, North Dakota. Richard and Marvis made their home in Hettinger and Lemmon, where Richard worked for Fullerton Lumber before moving to Rapid City, SD. In Rapid City, together they managed the Sitting Bull Cave until they returned to Bucyrus to farm and ranch with Herman and Lila. Marvis and Richard continued to farm the family farm until 2013 when they fully retired and moved into Hettinger. In 2015, Marvis moved to MSLCC in Bismarck where she resided until her death. Marvis was very active in the community. She was a member of the Bucyrus Lutheran Church, Bucyrus Lutheran ALCW, Bucyrus Homemakers, Eagles Auxiliary, Sons of Norway and Richard’s backup school bus driver. Marvis and Richard enjoyed traveling in the States, visiting family and friends. Marvis is survived by four children, Diane (Orville) Payne, Mandan, ND; Denise (Jeff) Brezden, Dickinson, ND; Dwight (Susan) Hofland, West Fargo, ND; and Darlys (Ron) Anderson; Fargo, ND; Marvis’ grandchildren Seth (Patience) Hofland, Ryan (Mandy) Hofland, Shelby (Ryan) Anderson, Amanda (Derek) Binstock, Kaleb Anderson, Tanner (Moriah) Anderson, David Payne; great grandchildren Porter, Sophie and Layne Hofland; Grace and Eleanor Hofland; Talon Binstock; Rylee and baby Anderson. Marvis is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law Del and Janice Kenitzer, Spearfish, SD, and numerous nieces and nephews. Marvis is preceded in death by her husband Richard; son Richard (Dickie) Hofland; parents Herman and Lila Kenitzer; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Oliver and Ella Hofland; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Margie and Roy Schnell; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dale and Norma Hofland.
