Loyd’s Obituary Loyd Vern Arnold, age 93, of Broseley, died Sunday, January 5, 2020 at his residence, in Broseley. Mr. Arnold was born May 15, 1926 in Broseley, son of the late James and Jacqueline Curtis Arnold. He served in the Navy during WWII from 1944 through 1950. He was assigned to the USS Canberra in the Pacific and later was stationed in Panama. He was retired riverboat Captain having worked for 43 years. He was also a farmer. He was a member of the American Legion post 153. In November of 1954 he married Vera Mae “Billie” Cunningham. She survives. Also surviving are two children: Jacqueline Arnold of Broseley, and Rodney Arnold of Potosi; and five grandchildren: Summer Phillips, Eric Helm, Garrett Arnold, Amber Peacock, and Megan Arnold and eight great grandchildren: Paige Davis, Bryson Helm, Kayden Peacock, Sampson Helm, Grayson Snider, Bryleigh Peacock, Deborah Helm, and Dawson Helm. He was also preceded in death by three siblings: Opal Trout, Louis Arnold and Lattie DePriest. Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 9, 2020 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jim Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Brown Chapel Cemetery at Broseley.
