Tribute Bettye Sue Brown was born November 13, 1929 in Dallas, Texas to Prudie and O.B. Lee. Bettye Sue was best known as Sue to her friends and Granny to her family. Sue was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Waxahachie and served through multiple ministries there. She ministered to her community as a hospice volunteer, delivered Meals on Wheels, and served as a Baylor Pink Lady. Granny was an avid fisherman who taught all of her grandchildren to fish. She loved to go camping, was not afraid to pick up a sledgehammer and knock down a few walls before her husband got home from work and she would tell you she could be a little spicy sometimes. But most of all she loved Jesus and her family with all her heart. We are so thankful that she is with our Savior and we will see her again one day. Until then we will laugh at all the memories and enjoy the legacy she left with us. Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Harold Brown. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and their wives; Bill and Evelyn Lee, Josh and I Ruth Lee, Jimmy and Mary Lee, and her beloved brother in law, James Adams and her stepson Don Brown. Sue is survived by her sister, Jo Adams. She is also survived by her children, Ron Pyle and wife Donna, Vicki Gore, and Dietra and husband Ken Box and stepchildren Rose Brown wife of Don, and Vickie and husband Ron Bateson. She has six grandchildren; Brad and wife Melissa Pyle, Matt and wife Lucy Gore, Brian and wife Rory Gore, Emily and husband Billy Daniel, Nick and wife Lacey Box, and Paul and wife Natalie Box. Granny also has eleven great grandchildren; Celeste, Abby, Zane, Izzy, Tatum, Kenlee, Macki, Isla, Annie, Lilli and Isaac. The family would like to thank Buffalo Creek Assisted Care and Bristol Hospice. Their love and care for Granny during the most difficult time of her life was precious. A service celebrating Sue’s life will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 10:30 in the morning at the First Baptist Church of Waxahachie. Friends and family are encouraged to gather for a visitation from 9:30-10:30 prior to the service. Sue will be laid to rest at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at 1:30 following the services.
