Avis Elizabeth Mackey May 15, 1935 – January 19, 2020 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Avis Elizabeth Mackey, 84, of McAlester, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020 in Columbia, Missouri. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2020 at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Buel Lewallen officiating. Burial will follow at Kiowa Cemetery. Avis was born on May 15, 1935 in Moody, Texas to Franklin Austin and Mamie Ola (Hartgrove) Hargrove. She married Finis Gene Mackey on May 14, 1966 in Chihuahua, Mexico. She retired from K-Mart after working there for 28 years. She enjoyed playing games, cards, traveling and being with family and friends. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Sherry and Michael McCuistion of Columbia, MO, Joan and Steve Brown of Peoria, AZ, Della Dusel-Hetge and Ken of Viola, AR, Debbie Malone of Cisco, TX, Patrick Davis of Shawnee, OK, Bruce Mackey of McAlester, Gary L. Mackey of Elk River, MN, Linda K. and Joe Crawford of Tulsa, OK and Karen Fant of McAlester; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Finis Gene Mackey; parents, Franklin and Mamie Hargrove; three sons and her brothers and sisters. Active pallbearers will be Michael McCuistion, Steve Brown, Ken Hetge, Joe Crawford, Steven Parish, Brian Cooley and Tracy Cargill. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Krebs Senior Citizens Center or the Stipe Center.
