Obituary for Sister Eileen Tierney, O.P. SISTER EILEEN TIERNEY O.P., formerly Sister Justin, a member of the Sisters of St. Dominic of Blauvelt, New York, for the past 73 years died on October 28,2019 at Nyack Hospital. Sister Eileen was a resident of St. Martin De Porres Community at the Motherhouse in Blauvelt. Sister was 92years of age. Sister. Eileen was born to Joseph and Alice Simpson Tierney in the Bronx, N.Y. She entered the Sisters of St. Dominic on September 12, 1946 from Our Lady of Victory Parish in the Bronx. She received the Dominican Habit on September 2, 1947, professed her first vows on September 3, 1948, and final vows on September 5, 1951. Sister’s many years in ministry include teaching in St. Dominic’s School in Blauvelt (1948-1949); Holy Cross School in New York City (1949-1955); St. Raymond’s School, Providence, Rhode Island (1955-1961); St. Pius School, Bronx, N.Y. (1961-1966); St. Martin de Porres School, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. (1966-1967); St. Luke’s School, Bronx, N.Y.(1967-1972). Sister served as Director of Institutional Research and Planning at Dominican College, Orangeburg, N.Y. (1972-1974). She then returned to St. Dominic’s School, Blauvelt, N. Y. where she ministered as AV Coordinator, Librarian, and Teacher (1974-2012). Finally, Sister ministered in the Archivists Office (2012-2018) until her retirement. In addition to her religious congregation, Sr. Eileen is survived her niece, Eileen Persico, her nephew, Michael Quinn; her grandniece, Christine Morciglio; and grandnephew, Michael Persico, as well as several cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Alice her sister, Mary Quinn, and her nephew, Stephen Quinn. RELATIVES AND FRIENDS MAY ATTEND SERVICES AT: ST.
